Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

Endpoint:
oxidising solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with oxidising properties and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied

Results and discussion

Any other information on results incl. tables

Didecyldimethylammonium chloride (DDAC) is a clump building powder of white, slight yellowish colour and
shows hygroscopic behaviour. According to the test guideline Directive 92169lEC Method A.10 (1992), 'Flammability of solids',
DDAC has to be considered as not highly flammable.
During the flammability test it ignited within the 2 minutes of the ignition attempt but did not spread out over the
distance of 200 mm within 4 minutes. The test item melted to a yellowish
product and burned down completely. Beside the properties mentioned above, DDAC has no oxidising
potential under normal conditions. The molecular structure contains no oxygen. DDAC burns, but it has no
oxidising properties.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
other: no oxidising properties
Conclusions:
DDAC has no oxidising properties
