Administrative data
First-aid measures
General Advice: First-aid responders should wear protective gloves and in case of spillages respiratory protection. Remove victims from danger zone. Remove contaminated clothing immediately.
Remove contaminated clothing immediately and clean before re-use or dispose it if necessary.
If inhaled: Keep patient calm, remove to fresh air, seek medical attention.
On skin contact: After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of water. Consult a doctor if skin irritation persists.
On contact with eyes: Immediately wash affected eyes for at least 15 minutes under running water with eyelids held open, consult an eye specialist.
On ingestion: Immediately rinse mouth and then drink plenty of water, do not induce vomiting, seek medical attention.
Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed
Treatment: Treat according to symptoms (decontamination, vital functions), no known specific antidote, administer corticosteroid dose aerosol to prevent pulmonary odema.
Note to the physician:
Breathing difficulties may appear with several hours delay. Administer corticosteroid dose aerosol to prevent pulmonary edema. Treat according to symptoms. No specific antidote known.
Most important symptoms and effects may be delayed: tightness in the chest, coughing, difficulty breathing.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media: dry extinguishng media, carbon dioxide, alcohol-resistant foam, water spray.
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture might be carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrogen cyanide; hydrocyanic acid, nitrogen oxides or isocyanates. The substances/groups of substances mentioned can be released in case of fire.
Advice for fire-fighters
Special protective equipment: wear self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical-specific clothing.
Further information: Keep containers cool by spraying with water if exposed to fire. Dispose of fire debris and contaminated extinguishing water in accordance with official regulations.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions:
Wear personal protective equipment including breathiong apparatus. Ensure good ventilation.
Prevent material from entering drains/gutters. Cover spilled material with extinguishing foam, if available. Add chemical absorbant or sand, shovel into buckets. Do not close buckets tightly as slow decomposition of the material releases carbon dioxide: danger of pressure buil-up! Dispose of as hazardous waste in accordance with regulations.
Neutralization: mix with a solution of 5-10 % sodium carbonate, 0.2-2 % detergent and 90-95 % of water. Stirr the mixture gently several times a day. Reaction progresses over 5-7 days at temperatures not below 20 °C.
Remark: Do use aprotic polar solvents (meeting the IUPAC definition) for cleaning up only with care, since it may lead to formation of hazardous primary aromatic amine (>0,1%). We use advice against all cleaning operations using aprotic polar solvents within widespread uses by professional workers.
Handling and storage
Provide suitable exhaust ventilation at the processing machines. Ensure thorough ventilation of stores and work areas. Avoid aerosol formation. When handling heated product, vapours of the product should be ventilated, and respiratory protection used. Wear respiratory protection when spraying. Danger of bursting when sealed gastight. Protect against moisture. Clean up contamination as soon as they occur. Provide basic employee training to prevent/minimize exposures. Products freshly manufactured from isocyanates can contain incompletely reacted isocyanates and other dangerous substances, e.g. primary aromatic amines. Industrial cleaning with aprotic polar solvents (meeting the IUPAC definition) may lead to formation of hazardous primary aromatic amine (>0,1%).
Completely cured polyurethanes (24 h after production) can generally be handled without PPE.
Keep away from water. Segregate from foods and animal feeds. Segregate from acids and bases.
Suitable materials for containers: Stainless steel 1.4301 (V2), Stainless steel 1.4401, Carbon steel (Iron), tinned carbon steel (Tinplate)
Further information on storage conditions: Keep container tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place. Protect against moisture. Formation of CO2 and build up of pressure possible. Danger of bursting when sealed gastight. Information concerning the compliance to the Packaging (Essential Requirements) Regulations 1998 and their amendments may be obtained from the manufacturer.
Protect against moisture. If moisture enters isocyanate containers, CO2 forms and pressure builds up.

General safety and hygiene measures:
Do not breath vapours/spray. With products freshly manufatured from isocyanates body protection and chemical resistant protctive gloves is recommended. Wearing of closed work clothing is required and additionally to the stated personal protective equipent. Keep away from drink, food and animal feeding stuffs. No eating, drinking, smoking or tobacco use at the place of work. Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Hands and face should be washed before breaks and at the end of shift. At the end of the shift the skin should be cleaned and skin-care agents applied.
Stability and reactivity
Conditions to avoid: temperatures above 40 °C (quality reasons)
Avoid moisture.
Thermal decomposition: 230 °C.
Substances to avoid: copper, zinc, tin, acids, alcohols, amines, water, alkalines, copper alloys, aluminum compounds, strong oxidizing agents.
Hazardous reactions:
On contact with water, carbon dioxide is formed which causes build-up of pressure in tightly closed containers. Risk of bursting. May react violently with ammmonia solution, primary and secondary amines, primary alcohols and hot water.
No hazardous decomposition products if stored and handled as prescribed/indicated.
Disposal considerations
Incinerate in suitable incineration plant, observing local authority regulations.
This product and any uncleaned containers must be disposed of as hazardous waste.

Contaminated packaging:
contaminated packaging should be emptied as far as possible; than it can be passed on for recycling after being thoroughly cleaned.
