Short-term toxicity to fish:
In an OECD 203 test fish (Danio rerio) were exposed 96 h against the test substance. The LC 50 was determined to be 0.150 mg/l. A further poorly documented study (regarded as supporting study ) is described in the literature without GLP and no analytics. The LC50 in zebrafish is reported to be 0.094 mg/l after 144 h.

Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates:
In an OECD 202 test the medium effect concentration (EC50) for Quaternary ammonium compounds, tri-C8-10-alkylmethyl, chlorides after 48 h of exposure against Daphnia magna based on the nominal loading rates was calculated to be 0.160 mg/l (95% confidence limits: 0.143–0.182 mg/l).

Toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria:
In an OECD 201 test using Desmodesmus subspicatus the aquatic toxicity to algae after 72 h was determined. The median effect concentration with respect to growth rate ErC50of Quaternary ammonium compounds, tri-C8-10-alkylmethyl, chlorides, to Desmodesmus subspicatus was calculated to be 0.290 mg/l loading rate. The ErC10 for 72 h was deterimined to be 0.138 mg/L.
Toxicity to microorganisms:
A valid OECD 209 study is available. The reported EC10 is 4.4 mg/l and the EC50 is 18 mg/l after 3 hours of incubation. No deviations from the test guidelines or other incidents occurred during the course of the reported test which may have influenced the results.
