Administrative data
First-aid measures
Skin contact: Remove all contaminated clothes and footwear immediately unless stuck to skin.
Immediately drench skin with copious amounts of water for at least 20 mins Seek
immediate medical attention.
Eye contact: Bathe the eye with running water for 15 minutes. Transfer to hospital for specialist
examination.
Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Wash out mouth with water. If unconscious, check for breathing
and apply artificial respiration if necessary. If unconscious and breathing is OK, place in
the recovery position. Seek medical advice immediately.
Inhalation: Remove casualty from exposure ensuring one's own safety whilst doing so. If
conscious, ensure the casualty sits or lies down. If unconscious and breathing is OK,
place in the recovery position. If breathing is difficult give oxygen. Seek medical attention
immediately. DO NOT give mouth-to-mouth respiration
Fire-fighting measures
Carbon dioxide. Dry chemical powder. Dry sand or clay. Material reacts violently with water to give fumes of hydrogen chloride. Use water with caution only on combustibles burning in the vacinity, NOT on material itself. If large quantities of combustibles are involved, use water in flooding amounts as a spray or fog.
Accidental release measures
Do not attempt to take action without suitable protective clothing - see section 8 of SDS. Evacuate the area immediately. If outside do not approach from downwind. If outside keep bystanders upwind and away from danger point. Mark out the contaminated area with signs and prevent access to unauthorised personnel. Turn leaking containers leak-side up to prevent the escape of liquid.
Handling and storage
Ensure there is sufficient ventilation of the area. Avoid direct contact with the substance. Wear personal protective equipment. Ensure high standards of hygiene and housekeeping. Prevent contact with water.
This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Article 18(4), for Transported Isolated Intermediates. Documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at each manufacturing site. Written confirmation of the use of Strictly Controlled Conditions has been received from Downstream Users of the Registrant’s intermediate.
