First-aid measures
General advice: Immediately remove contaminated clothing. If danger of loss of consciousness, place patient in recovery position and transport accordingly. Apply artificial respiration if necessary. First aid personnel should pay attention to their own safety.
If inhaled: Immediately administer a corticosteroid from a controlled/metered dose inhaler. Keep patient calm, remove to fresh air, seek medical attention.
On skin contact: Immediately wash thoroughly with plenty of water, apply sterile dressings, consult a skin specialist.
On contact with eyes: Immediately wash affected eyes for at least 15 minutes under running water with eyelids held open, consult an eye specialist.
On ingestion: Immediately rinse mouth and then drink plenty of water, do not induce vomiting, seek medical attention.
Symptoms
Hazards: Danger of irritation to the lungs. Risk of pulmonary edema. These risks can occur also at lower concentrations.
Note to physician
Treatment: Treat according to symptoms (decontamination, vital functions), no known specific antidote, administer corticosteroid dose aerosol to prevent pulmonary edema.
Fire-fighting measures
Extinguishing media
Suitable extinguishing media: water spray, foam, dry lime, cement, Dry sand
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture
The following substances/groups of substances mentioned can be released in case of fire: boron trifluoride, phosphoric acid...%, orthophosphoric acid...%.
Advice for fire-fighters
Special protective equipment: Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus.
Further information: The product itself is non-combustible; fire extinguishing method of surrounding areas must be considered. Contaminated extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with official regulations.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
Breathing protection required. Ensure adequate ventilation.
Environmental precautions
Do not discharge into drains/surface waters/groundwater. Due to the pH-value of the product, neutralization is generally required before discharging sewage into treatment plants.
Methods and material for containment and cleaning up
For small amounts: Dilute with water. Neutralize with lime. Dispose of absorbed material in accordance with regulations.
For large amounts: Dike spillage. Place into suitable container for disposal. Dispose of absorbed material in accordance with regulations.
Handling and storage
Precautions for safe handling
Keep container tightly sealed.
Protection against fire and explosion:
The substance/product is non-combustible.
Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
Suitable materials for containers: High density polyethylene (HDPE)
Further information on storage conditions: Keep container tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place.
