The Forum holds its open sessions once a year back-to-back with the last Forum meeting of the year. All ECHA Accredited Stakeholders (ASO) are invited to participate.

A call for interest and request to submit proposals for presentations is launched at the end of the summer each year.

The ASOs are invited to bring of issues they wish to highlight and discuss with the Forum.

The discussions are seen as beneficial for both sides as they served to clarify, in general terms, the NEA approaches and existing activities in Member States.

The Forum's Open session 2015 took place on 5 November 2015, back-to-back with the Forum-22 plenary meeting, held in Helsinki. It was attended by seven accredited stakeholder organisation (ASO) representatives and one remote attendee.

Four ASOs presented topics they considered relevant to their members, covering the CLP-related topic on liquid laundry detergent capsules, the enforcement of the REACH information requirements, responsibilities of different actors in the supply chain and a call for attention to the intermediate interpretation. The topics presented resulted in very dynamic discussions with all the meeting participants.

The Forum also used the open session to present how the project proposals for enforcement were assessed. Such proposals were submitted by ECHA's stakeholders and collected by the Forum Secretariat for the last two years. In this meeting, the ASOs were formally invited by the Forum to submit proposals for the scope of the next enforcement project by using the appropriate template (See the "Related documents" below).

The participating ASOs also previewed the REF-3 project results and some Forum members and invited experts took this opportunity to present their own national enforcement initiatives. Two of the national projects addressed the enforcement of provisions related to substances in articles. The participants were also presented with the follow-up of the world café discussion from the 2014 open session, which focused on how to improve cooperation between the ASOs and Forum.
