National Inspectorates - Czech Republic

The Czech Ministry of the Environment is a competent authority for the REACH Regulation. REACH enforcement in the Czech Republic is guaranteed by several national institutions such as the Czech Environmental Inspection, Czech Customs Administration, State Labour Inspection Office and multiple Regional Public Health Authorities. The enforcement authorities inspect all legal and natural persons having obligations under REACH, CLP, BPR, POP and PIC Regulations.

Authorities responsible for REACH, CLP and POP enforcement

  • The Czech Environmental Inspectorate – Controls duties of manufacturers, importers, downstream users and distributors.
  • Customs Administration – Focuses on imports of goods.
  • State Labour Inspection Office – Focuses on occupational safety and health.
  • Regional Public Health Authorities – Controls duties of manufacturers, importers, downstream users and distributors concerning substances in articles in contact with water and food, in toys and in cosmetic products.

Authorities responsible for BPR enforcement

  • The Czech Environmental Inspectorate – Controls duties regarding classification, labelling, packaging, safety data sheets, treated articles and use of biocides.
  • Regional Public Health Authorities – Controls duties of natural and legal persons placing biocides, active substances and treated articles on the market.
  • Customs Administration – Controls import of biocides, active substances and treated articles.

Authority responsible for PIC

  • Customs Administration – Controls both importers and exporters.
