ECHA and Eurometaux agree on Framework for Cooperation
ECHA’s Executive Director Bjorn Hansen and Eurometaux’s Guy Thiran have signed the Metals and Inorganics Sectorial Approach (MISA) agreement providing a cooperation framework for improving the data in the registration dossiers for these substances and advancing technical and scientific issues related to metal compounds and inorganic substances.
The report, commissioned by ECHA, aims to improve the interpretation of non-extractable residues in the persistence assessment of substances. It reviews the state-of-science on their role in degradation assessment in soil, sediment and water with suspended solids. The report will be used as background for the persistence assessment of substances under REACH and the Biocidal Products Regulation.

Since the launch of the use maps library in 2016, 10 industry sectors have published their use map files. On 1 June 2018, the library contained 84 files and more than
26 000 downloads had taken place.
The use maps published in Chesar format have generated significant interest among users (1 355 downloads out of the 26 000), despite their much more recent publication.
The majority of those using the library are based in the EU countries, but the web page is also being regularly consulted by users based in the US, India, Japan and China.
Workshop on EUSES update needs: report and presentations available
The presentations, recordings and proceedings of the workshop held in Brussels from 4 to 5 June 2018 are now online. The workshop aimed to review the state of the EUSES tool regarding environmental exposure assessment of chemical substances and to find out how a future update of EUSES could best support the regulatory assessment under REACH and the Biocidal Products Regulation.
