RAC concludes on 14 opinions on harmonised classification and labelling

ECHA’s Committees for Risk Assessment (RAC) and Socio-economic Analysis (SEAC) also agreed on the restriction proposal for a group of perfluorinated substances.

Have your say: how does your company deal with chemicals in consumer articles?

The German Environment Agency (UBA) is running a survey until 30 September 2018 for suppliers of consumer articles under the EU LIFE project AskREACH. The project helps companies inform consumers about harmful substances in their articles, such as furniture, textiles, toys, household goods and electric appliances.

All the data collected will be used for the purposes of the project only. The questionnaire is anonymous.

Public consultation on proposed restriction of eight substances found in granules and mulches on sports pitches and playgrounds

The Netherlands has submitted a proposal to restrict the placing on the market of granules and mulches containing polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) above a set concentration limit for use as infill material in synthetic turf pitches or in loose form on playgrounds and in sports applications.

This consultation is open from 19 September 2018 to 19 March 2019, 23:59 Helsinki time.

ECHA’s scientific committees welcome early comments by 16 November 2018 to assist them in the first discussion of the proposal in November 2018.

Public consultation on SEAC draft opinion on restriction

ECHA is looking for comments on the draft opinion of the Committee for Socio-economic Analysis on the restriction proposal on the manufacturing, use, placing on the market and import of C9-C14 perfluorocarboxylic acids (PFCAs), their salts and related substances (precursors), submitted by Germany in collaboration with Sweden.

The deadline for comments is 19 November 2018.

Public consultation on harmonised classification and labelling

ECHA is looking for comments on the harmonised classification and labelling proposals for 2-phenoxyethanol (EC 204-589-7; CAS 122-99-6).

The substance is mainly used as an active substance in biocidal products and as an ingredient of various industrial, professional and consumer products including cosmetics and personal care products, laboratory chemicals, lubricants and greases, metal working fluids, polymers, coating products and inks and toners. It has an existing harmonised classification and labelling in Annex VI to CLP.

Comments are invited on the acute toxicity, serious eye damage/eye irritation, specific target organ toxicity - single exposure and specific target organ toxicity - repeated exposure hazard classes.

The deadline for comments is 16 November 2018, 23:59 Helsinki time.

Targeted public consultation on  harmonised classification and labelling

The proposal for the harmonised classification and labelling of hexyl 2-(1-(diethylaminohydroxyphenyl)methanoyl)benzoate; hexyl 2-[4-(diethylamino)-2-hydroxybenzoyl]benzoate (EC 443-860-6; CAS 302776-68-7), submitted by Germany, was subject to a public consultation which ended on 12 January 2018. On 4 September 2018, additional information (experimental studies) was submitted relating to the aquatic toxicity of the substance.

All interested parties are invited to submit comments in direct relation to the subject of the targeted consultation using the webform.

The deadline for comments is 1 October 2018, 23:59 Helsinki time.

REACH-IT maintenance breaks

There will be two longer-than-usual maintenance breaks for REACH-IT in the coming weeks. These breaks are to prepare for the launch of a IUCLID 6 upgrade scheduled for late October.

REACH-IT will be closed:
  • from Friday 28 September 2018 at 12:00 (GMT+3) until Monday 1 October 2018 at 10:00; and
  • from Friday 5 October 2018 at 20:00 (GMT+3) until Monday 8 October 2018 at 10:00.
