Updates to the poison centres website

More information on the draft EU product categorisation system that will be used to assign product categories according to their intended use of the mixture is now available on ECHA's poison centres website under 'Tools'.

There is also a new page related to the establishment of a centralised submission and dispatch system called the poison centres notification portal. A feasibility study on this will be conducted from April to July 2017.

Check out the 'Support' tab where new questions and answers as well as information about guidance have been published.

Downstream users

Communication in the supply chain getting a higher profile

Communication in the supply chain is one of the basic pillars of chemicals legislation. The corresponding page on ECHA’s website has been brought up one level and now works as an entry point for the topic. The page hosts the downstream user section and contains the new interactive infographic which gives information about a range of tools designed to improve communication up and down in the supply chain.

This section of the website will be developed with specific material for different actors in the supply chain and we would like your help. What information would you find useful and what would you like to know more about in your supply chain work? You can give your feedback by email to: downstream_users@echa.europa.eu.

The Commission asked ECHA to evaluate the current restriction of lead in jewellery by 30 September 2017. ECHA has launched a call for evidence to gather information to inform the review. The call ends on 20 July 2017. The objective of this call for evidence is to gather concrete information on:

  • the availability of alternatives to lead or its compounds used in:
    • crystal glass;
    • internal components of watch timepieces;
    • non-synthetic or reconstructed precious and semi-precious stones; and
    • enamels.
