Consultations launched for applications for authorisation and review reports
ECHA has launched a consultation on two applications for authorisation and two review reports covering four uses of:
-
chromium trioxide (EC 215-607-8, CAS 1333-82-0) used in functional plating of engine valves and valve actuation (“lash adjusters”, use 1) and in industrial formulation of a chromium trioxide solution below 0.1 % w/w concentration for the passivation of copper foil used in the manufacture of lithium ion batteries for motorised vehicles (use 2);
-
trichloroethylene (TCE) (EC 201-167-4, CAS 79-01-6) used as a processing aid in the biotransformation of starch to obtain betacyclodextrin; and
-
4-nonylphenol, branched and linear, ethoxylated (EC -, CAS -) used as a non-reactive surfactant in the sealing product in the sulfuric acid anodisation process of aluminium alloy parts of aircraft landing gears.
More information about the uses applied for authorisation, including descriptions of the functions of the substances, exposure scenarios, possible alternatives identified by applicants, and socio-economic information, is available on ECHA's website.
The deadline for comments is 14 April 2021.
