In the October issue, we give you the highlights of our Second Lead Registrant Workshop, reflect on the recent consultation of 54 potential substances of very high concern (SVHCs) and talk about the importance of sharing data. We also introduce a new feature soon to be available in REACH-IT, the Co-registrants page, which will support potential and existing registrants in sharing data and preparing joint submissions. In addition, we highlight the problems found in many intermediate dossiers and share with you our procedures for preventing potential conflicts of interest and ensuring independent, transparent and science-based decision making.

Audit report published on management of Conflicts of Interest in EU Agencies

The European Court of Auditors (ECA) has published a report on the management of conflict of interest in four selected EU Agencies, including ECHA.

ECHA advises registrants to check their company information in REACH-IT

17 October 2012

After the REACH-IT update in November, existing registrants will see who else has registered their substance or successfully submitted an inquiry. ECHA advises all registrants to check the information they have submitted in their dossiers by the end of November to avoid unexpected disclosure of information.

A new web page on Nanomaterials under REACH and CLP published

The webpage will provide advice to registrants that wish to register nanomaterials and inform about the latest ECHA's activities in the field of Nanomaterials.

Presentations and training material of the Second Lead Registrant workshop now available

The Agency's workshop for lead registrants welcomed more than 100 participants to the two-day event in Helsinki (11 to 12 October), including newly appointed and candidate leads representing the chemical manufacturing industries. Experienced leads, industry representatives, consultants and representatives of the national helpdesks of five Member States were also present, while an additional 200 people followed online. Recordings of the workshop will soon be available on the event page.
