ECHA's Sixth Stakeholders' Day

The European Chemicals Agency will organise its Sixth Stakeholders' Day on 17-18 May 2011, in Helsinki.

The main event consisting of plenary and one-to-one sessions will take place on 18 May at the Helsinki Exhibition and Convention Centre (Messukeskus). A registration form for the main event will be published on the ECHA website shortly. The event is open to everyone and participation is free of charge.

In conjunction with the event, a day of training will take place at ECHA on 17 May focussing on in-depth training on the Chemical Safety Assessment and Reporting tool (Chesar). The training session is open to all stakeholders with some experience in chemical safety assessment.

ECHA Scientific Committees adopt their first opinions on restriction proposals under REACH

The Committee for Risk Assessment (RAC) adopted its two first opinions at its meeting on 8-11 March on proposals submitted by France. The first was to restrict dimethylfumarate (DMFu) in articles and the second to restrict lead and its compounds in jewellery. In a parallel meeting the Committee for Socio-economic Analysis (SEAC) agreed on draft opinions for the same restriction proposals.

The Committee for Risk Assessment (RAC) has adopted opinions on three proposals for harmonised classification and labelling (CLH) across Europe and an opinion following up a previous RAC opinion in relation to CLH.

Further public consultation on the carcinogenicity of gallium arsenide

Following a request from the European Commission for a supplementary scientific opinion, ECHA asks concerned parties to submit information and comments on the carcinogenicity of gallium arsenide and its metabolites, as well as on the read-across approach described in the opinion of the Committee for Risk Assessment of 25 May 2010.
